Winy Maas ( 1959 - ) is one of the founding partners of MVRDV with Jacob van Rijs and Nathalie de Vries. He was born in Schijndel in the Netherlands.

Education[]

Winy Maas studied landscape architecture at the RHSTL Boskoop from 1978-1983. From 1984-1990, he studied at the Technical University of Delft and graduated with honors as an architect and urban planner.

Professional career[]

Maas served on the editorial staff at Forum from 1994 to 1997 and Items from 1995 to 1997.

As an architect, Maas has worked as an architect for many companies and firms including Bureau Bakker, D.R.O., Kuiper Compagnons, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), DHV and OMA.

In 1991, he and two collaborators, Jacob van Rijs and Nathalie de Vries, won first prize in the Berlin Europan Competition and began MVRDV. The firm is located in Rotterdam.
